Spring 2017

As you can see, I have not keep up this blog very well.  I  am teaching WordPress for Scottsdale College this semester, so hopefully I will blog more.  We are using .org for the course, and this is the .com site where I purchased my own domain name.

Here are a few photos from my vacation to Arizona and Mexico for spring break.  The wildflowers were glorious and the weather in Rocky Point was perfect.  Arizona people need to get outside before the summer heat comes and enjoy what the desert offers in the springtime. Mary

Summer 2015 News

Writing to a friend of mine today reminds me I have not added anything to my blog in a Long, long time.  I have heard people write books from their blog.  I plan to write after I quit teaching so much.  Not really going to retire, but will cut back in the next few years.  Being over 60 does that to a person.  Ha.
I have been water skiing when I can this summer.  Some friends have  a boat.  It has been a rainy summer, so some Sundays we only get a 2 – 3 hour window before the clouds build up.
I taught three online courses this summer.  Now I can get to some household chores that  ALWAYS seem to get put off until later.   I have “lists for my lists” of things to get done in the summer.  When a person lives in four season climate, there are things that just cannot be done in the wintertime.
My husband and I are going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon at the end of the August for two days.  We will attempt to hike part of the North Kaibab trail.  It is quite steep so we will see how far we can go always remembering that as far as we go down, that is as far as we have to hike back up!  So now we are in training, although not as much as we should.
At the end of September, we are going on a houseboat for 3 days at Lake Powell.  We did it last year with the same friends I water ski with and had a blast.  My husband does not ski anymore, but loves to pilot the houseboat.  It is so serene there in the mornings and evenings, we just LOVE IT.
I created a Wix.com photography website to show students how easy and simple it can be to have a portfolio. This one is free.  I still need to add captions, but thought you would like to see it.  http://obmary2008.wix.com/photography
A long time friend of mine quit his job after receiving his teaching degree, at 60 years old.  He has decided to move to Vietnam to teach English as a second language for at least a year.  I look forward to him blogging much more than I do at this time.  Feel free to add comments anytime on my blog.  Happy Summer!!!!

Summer 2015

Boy, it has been a while since I posted anything.  Life gets way busy and crazy sometimes doesn’t it?

No changes here but I am learning more all the time about writing and publishing, especially for a Kindle book.  My accumulation of knowledge continues to grow and one day when I am not working full time, I will have enough to write and be able to publish.  Very cool.

Happy summer to all. Mary

Summer 2014

It went from Spring to Summer in the mountains seemingly overnight.

Summer means warm days and cool nights.   Sunsets filled with clouds and light.  Night skies that show the Milky Way, but not until around Midnight after the sun has gone down at 9 p.m.

We feel more energetic and want to get LOTS done while we have these long days.  All too soon, the days will get shorter and not as much light.  Being outside, in the sunshine feels hot, due to the closeness of the sun.  Finding shade is ideal!!!  Very few bugs, which is also a plus.  Cannot ask for a better place to live in the summertime.

I can even water-ski here!  It feels very different from the Arizona lakes that I am used to.  It is a fun sport, but reminds me I am not 20 yrs. old anymore.  My limbs get tired more easily and I almost need a nap when I get home.  However, I will endure!!!!

2014 Spring

Whew, it has been a while since I used this Blog.  Shame on me.

Spring in Colorado is a fickle time.  One day it is warm, the next it is windy and cold, sometimes snowing.  We never know from March through Mid-May what we are going to have. We are all desperate for winter to be over and the greenery to arrive!

My next venture will be writing short books and publishing to Kindle.  I have been wanting to do this for a while, but never seem to find the “time”.   Now is  as good as any so here I am.

Check back for more later!
